Next STEP is integrated with physical therapy to improve strength, mobility and balance. Together with the referring doctor, Kitsap Physical Therapy’s mission is for patients to decrease their dependency on medicine and adopt exercise as a lifestyle. After a comprehensive screening by a PT, patients are able to choose one of the following Next STEPs:

Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program (AFEP) (Kingston Only)

Bariatric Fitness (Silverdale)

Class will consist of up to 30 minutes of cardiovascular work (either Biodex, chair supported or weight-bearing) along with full body strength training, mobility and flexibility movements. The goal, whether you are pre- or post-surgery, is to gradually increase your duration of being able to increase your heart rate (in your calculated zone) for up to 30 minutes, along with improving strength, mobility and flexibility. Our long-term goal is for you to be able to transition into a fitness facility/program with what you learn. Our group Bariatric class also allows for the socialization and support from other fellow bariatric patients.

Cardiac Conditioning – (Silverdale and Kingston)

The cardiac conditioning program is for participants with a heart condition who are returning to exercise. It provides a supervised environment to safely increase activity and exercise. Blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen levels are monitored.

Therapeutic Pilates for Spinal Rehab and Osteoporosis – (Kingston and Silverdale)

A program designed for the special needs of patients with low back problems. It provides a safe and effective way to eliminate or reduce low back pain, while gaining the benefits of core strength, flexibility and balance.

SAIL – (Kingston and Bainbridge)

SAIL is an evidence-based fall prevention class for adults 65 and older helping to improve strength, balance, cardiovascular fitness, keeping them active and reduce their chances of falling. Classes are 2 times a week and will be conducted by staff who are SAIL certified instructors. The class is designed to help increase energy, improve walking and flexibility, maintain healthy weight, improve self-image and sleep better in a group approach providing a social environment where peers interact and create new relationships.

Silversneakers – (Kingston)

Senior Fitness – (Bremerton, Kingston, Poulsbo and Silverdale)

A well-rounded class tailored for seniors, focusing on balance, strength, cardio respiratory endurance, flexibility and cognitive training. These classes keep participants independently functioning, and are helpful in preventing disease and falls.

Yoga – (Bainbridge and Kingston)
