Our Port Orchard clinic practice is based primarily on treating typical musculoskeletal injuries seen in family practice.
Port Orchard Programs:
General Orthopedics: All of our clinics have PT's with extensive specialized training and many years of experience in treating both spinal (neck/back) injuries as well and extremity (shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle, and foot) injuries. The different physical therapists have many similarities but also utilize a variety of different approaches in how they treat problems based on the differences in their training and their experiences.
Post-Surgical Rehabilitation: All of our clinics have PT's with extensive experience in post-surgical orthopedic rehabilitation. Many of these problems utilize protocols that may vary from one doctor to another, but we understand this and make the appropriate adjustments as needed for different surgeons.
Gym Pass: Patients that are done with their supervised physical therapy programs can purchase a pass that allows them to continue coming in and using our gym to assist with their exercises. This allows us to still keep an eye on them and also answer any questions that may come up.
McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy for the Spine: This is considered one of the most effective treatments of spinal conditions, internationally. The patient will be evaluated by assessing the movement of their spine, testing a specific direction of movement repetitively. Repetitive movements which increase the patient’s range of motion and/or decrease their pain will dictate the prescribed exercise program. Pathologies of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine can be effectively treated with the McKenzie method, and in many instances, with fewer visits. Applying the same principles to joint pathologies of the upper and lower extremities has also met with great success. Rick Meade, PT, is a certified McKenzie practitioner.
Vestibular / Balance: John Carlson, PT, OCS, provides a specialty program which involves evaluation of positional vertigo conditions which commonly include symptoms of dizziness, nausea and imbalance, and are treated by performing specific maneuvers (i.e. Epley Maneuver). If your symptoms are caused by damage to peripheral or central structures, then retraining your vestibular system is necessary through either adaptive or habituation exercises.
