Serious knee injuries are sidelining athletes at an
alarming rate with over 100,000 anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)
injuries occurring in the United States each year. Most of these
injuries are non-contact injuries occurring in sports such as
soccer, basketball and volleyball that involve pivoting, cutting or
jumping. Over a decade ago, the physicians at Cincinnati
Sportsmedicine and Orthopaedic Center recognized the need for
prevention programs for athletes to address these serious knee
injuries. In conjunction with the findings by Cincinnati
Sportsmedicine, the NCAA stated that ”prevention programs designed
to increase neuromuscular control, improve balance and teach
avoidance strategies for at-risk situations appear to be effective
in decreasing injury rates."

If you have sustained and ACL injury and under gone
reconstructive surgery then Kitsap Physical Therapy & Sports Clinics
is the place to go for rehabilitation. Standard initial phases
of rehab are offered by skilled physical Therapists at all the KPT
location. In addition, their Kingston and Silverdale offices
off a program they call the ACL Bridge program. The Bridge
program allows patients access to the adjoining Kingston and
Silverdale Fitness centers. Because full recovery from an ACL
surgery and return to sport can often take 9 months, this is
generally far beyond typical time frames for standard physical
Therapy. The Bridge program involves official PT sessions form
1-4 times per month at the point most would be discharged to a home
program. This enables further development and progression of
rehab activities that the patient is taught to do independently in
the gym. At an appropriate point in the rehab process the
patient may choose to step things up to include Sportsmetric's
performance training. The Bridge program provides a seamless
and complete package from acute rehab to successful return to sport,
and does it in an economical fashion.

Dr. Frank Noyes and the doctors and researchers at
Cincinnati Sportsmedicine Research and Education Foundation have
been leaders in developing programs to ensure athletes play well and
stay well.
Sportsmetrics ™ is also a valuable program to train
athletes for returning to sports after a ligamentous injury or
surgery
Sportsmetrics™ increases muscular strength and
vertical jump height and corrects abnormal landing positions. Many
studies have shown that female athletes have a much greater ratio of
sustaining serious knee ligament injuries than do male athletes
participating in the same sport. Yet the benefits of Sportsmetrics™
training are true for both male and female athletes.
Created at Cincinnati Sports medicine Research and Education
Foundation under the direction of internationally-renowned
orthopaedic sports medicine surgeon, Frank R. Noyes, M.D., the
six-week training program combines jump training/plyometric drills,
strength & agility training and flexibility exercises. Kitsap
Physical Therapy & Sports Clinics is certified to offer
Sportsmetrics™ to individuals, groups or teams.
Why Sportsmetrics™?
- Significantly reduce the
risk of serious knee injury.
- Jump higher, up to 4 inches.
- Improve hamstring to
quadriceps strength ratio.
- Improve landing mechanics &
reduce side to side movements at the knee.
- Improve symmetry in right to
left power.

Health and Fitness Testing & Analysis
Education:
Fitness Assessment
Before beginning any exercise program, it is important to analyze
your current physical condition and status. It is only after
measurement of aerobic capacity, body composition, muscle strength,
endurance and flexibility, that a truly individualized exercise
program can be created for you.
The data generated by our computerized testing allows us to create a
customized program for you which includes specific fitness
recommendations and addresses each client’s physical strengths and
weaknesses. The objective: to provide clients with the best strategy
for achieving their personal fitness goals.
Personal Training
Personal training involves one-on-one exercise sessions with a
knowledgeable and qualified trainer. The trainer will insure that
the prescription is implemented appropriately, make adjustments to
the prescription as necessary, make sure all exercises are executed
properly and equipment used correctly, and provide ongoing support
and motivation.
Nutritional Counseling
Proper nutrition is an essential component of reaching fitness and
wellness goals. Our Registered Dietician will meet with you
individually for education, nutrient analysis of current dietary
intake and to create a nutrition plan that will assist you in
achieving your goals.
